Professor Chau has over 26-year extensive experience in venture capital and direct investment in the Asian Pacific region. Currently he is the Chairman of QLeap Venture Fund, a venture capital fund mainly investing in Asian early-stage technology ventures, and the Founding Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Business Angel Network, the largest non-profit making angel organization in Hong Kong. In addition, he is the Lead-Consultant to the Incu-Tech Program of the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park (HKSTP) responsible for leading a team of consultants to advise technology incubatees in HKSTP regarding their business models and fundraising strategies. He is also an Advisor to the B’ Alliance for Business Accelerators, a venture acceleration program under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan. Moreover, he is a director of the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization, and several technology ventures under his own investment portfolio.
In the academic area, he is a Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship (Adjunct) and an Associate Director (Adjunct) of the MBA Programs, teaching MBA and EMBA courses in the topics of entrepreneurship, new venture creation, venture capital and private equity in CUHK Business School, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (“CUHK”). In CUHK, he serves the Executive Board of both the Centre for Business Innovation and Globalization and Center for Entrepreneurship. In addition to his commitment in entrepreneurship development in CUHK, he is a member of the Business Entrepreneurship Support & Training (BEST) Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Baptist University, and an Advisory Committee Member of the Business Degree Program in the Singapore SIM University.
Professor Chau has a bachelor degree in applied mathematics, a law degree, a master and a doctorate degree in business administration. He is also a fellow member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of United Kingdom.
